Abstract

This study examines the effects of digital payment adoption on consumer spending behaviors in emerging economies, focusing on India, Brazil, and Nigeria. Utilizing survey data and transaction records from 1,800 participants, the research identifies shifts in spending categories, frequency, and saving tendencies pre and post digital payment usage. Results indicate increased discretionary spending and higher ease of budget management among digital payment adopters. The paper discusses implications for policymakers and financial service providers aiming to enhance financial inclusion and consumer welfare.
