Abstract

This paper examines how entrepreneurial orientation (EO)—comprising innovativeness, risk-taking, and proactiveness—affects the performance of SMEs in developing economies. Using survey data from 500 SMEs in Africa and South Asia, the study finds that a strong EO positively correlates with market share growth, profitability, and competitive advantage. Policy recommendations include entrepreneurship training programs and supportive financing mechanisms.
